Do I need a Visa for Egypt:

A visa is necessary to enter Egypt unless you are a citizen of one of the countries below. A visa can be obtained online or upon arrival for many nationalities, making the process much easier. Egypt allows citizens of the following countries to enter the country visa-free for 90 days: Bahrain, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Lebanon, Macao, Oman, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia (for a maximum of 14 days), with some restrictions for charter flight travelers

Other Egypt visa exemptions:

A visa may not be required to enter Egypt if you meet the following criteria, which vary per country:

  • Afghanistan (aged 50 and over, or 16 and under)
  • (Algeria, youths younger than fourteen)
  • Travel requirements for China
  • Libya (on Sundays and Mondays, ladies or residents of the Butnan District)
  • Jordanian passport valid for five years (not including the registration office stamp)
  • Lebanon (anyone above the age of 50, anyone under the age of 16, or a combination of the two for Alexandria and South Sinai)
  • Morocco (daughters and younger)
  • South Sudan and Sudan (nationals of either gender, aged 50 and up, or 16 and under)
  • Under the age of fourteen in Tunisia
  • Yemen (those aged 50 and over, those aged 16 and under, or those requiring medical attention)
  • Palestine (document allowing travel with age restrictions)

 

Extra exceptions for particular instances:

It is going on a vacation with a large group (more than 5 persons) that has special needs (for some countries only).

Excluding certain nations, being born to an Egyptian father or mother (after July 25, 2004), or being married to an Egyptian man are also requirements.

Before submitting a visa application at an Egyptian consulate, nationals of the following countries are required by law to undergo pre-clearance by the Egyptian State Security Authorities:

  • Iran
  • Iraq
  • Kazakhstan
  • Kosovo
  • Lebanon
  • Mauritania
  • Somalia
  • Sri Lanka
  • Syria
  • Yemen

Egypt Tourist-visa:

The maximum duration of stay for tourists visiting Egypt is 90 days. While nationals of certain countries are free from pre-trip visa applications, they will still need one for any length of stay. Further, a tourist visa for Egypt can be purchased online or at the airport for citizens of specific countries. Applying at an Egyptian embassy or consulate is still necessary for anyone intending to remain in Egypt for a lengthy period, regardless of whether they are eligible for on-arrival or online visas.

Applying for an Egypt Visa On Arrival

The convenience of applying online for an Egypt visa before making travel arrangements means that many eligible travelers still opt to do so.

Who can get an Egypt Visa Online?

Egypt now offers eVisas, which can be obtained online, for travelers hailing from the following countries: Albania, Australia, Canada, Iceland, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway, Russia, Serbia, Switzerland, Ukraine, UK, US, or Vatican City. To make the visa process easier for international travelers, Egypt introduced the eVisa in 2017.

Applying for an Egypt Visa Online (e-Visa)

At least seven days before your intended travel, you must apply online Egypt e-Visa for an Egypt e-Visa. To pay the cost, you need to create an account, input your travel details, and upload a scanned copy of your passport. To present the electronic visa at the entrance point, print it out once it’s accepted. Along with your printed e-visa, a valid passport, and your trip plans (including any relevant hotel reservations or tour agendas), be sure to bring your itinerary.

Applying for an Egypt Visa at an Embassy or Consulate

Applying at an Egyptian embassy or consulate is required for individuals who are not qualified for the Egypt Visa On Arrival or online application. To apply for a visa, one must first make an appointment, fill out an application, gather the necessary papers, pay the cost (either online or at the embassy or consulate), submit the paperwork, and then wait for processing. If the visa is approved, the next step is to retrieve the passport. Perhaps an interview is necessary. If you are planning to stay in Egypt for an extended period and are a citizen of a visa-exempt country or a VOA applicant, you must additionally complete this stage.

Egypt Visa Requirements

Several pieces of supporting documentation are required when applying for an Egypt visa, including:

 

  1. The application form for an Egyptian visa (two sets)
  2. Two passport-size pictures (2 inches by 2 inches) for your passport
  3. Your passport must have two blank pages
  4. Two copies of your passport’s information page
  5. If you are not a legal resident of the nation where you are submitting your application: Your valid form of residency identification, such as a resident permit
  6. Documentation showing a return or Ticket
  7. When on an official business trip A Letter of Invitation from the company that is hosting you
  8. As evidence that the visa cost has been paid
  9. For the Egyptian embassy or consulate to deliver your passport and other papers, a self-addressed, prepaid envelope must be included with every postal application.
