  • Indonesia (30 days)
  • Laos (30 days)
  • Malaysia (30 days)
  • Philippines (21 days)
  • Seychelles (14 days)

Types of Visas for Cambodia

If you’re not from an ASEAN country, you’ll need a visa to enter Cambodia. There are two primary types of Cambodian visas:

Tourist Visa (T Class)

This visa is for those visiting Cambodia for tourism. It allows you to stay for up to 30 days, with the option to extend it once for another 30 days.

Ordinary Visa (E Class)

An ordinary visa starts with the same 30-day period, but you can extend it for longer stays. Here are some common types of extensions for the E visa:

  • Business Visa (EB): For business travelers or those working in Cambodia long-term. It can be extended for up to one year.
  • Retirement Visa (ER): For foreigners over 55 who are retired and financially independent. It can also be extended for up to one year.
  • Student Visa (ES): For international students studying at a Cambodian institution. This extension allows you to stay for up to one year.
  • Job-Seeking Visa (EG): For foreigners in Cambodia to find work. This visa can be extended for up to six months.

Getting a Cambodia Visa

There are three main ways to get a Cambodian visa: online (eVisa), on arrival, or through an embassy. Here’s how each method works:

Applying for a Cambodia eVisa

The eVisa option is the most convenient, allowing you to apply online. However, it’s only available for tourist visas, and not all countries are eligible. Here’s how you can get an eVisa:

  1. Visit the official Cambodian Foreign Affairs Services website.
  2. Start the application process and pay the fee (US$30 for the visa plus a US$6 processing fee).
  3. Wait for the visa to be processed, which usually takes about three days.
  4. Once approved, you’ll receive a confirmation email. Show this at the Cambodian entry point.

Entry Points for eVisa Holders:

  • Phnom Penh International Airport
  • Siem Reap International Airport
  • Preah Sihanouk International Airport
  • Cham Yeam (Koh Kong) – Thailand border
  • Poi Pet (Banteay Meanchey) – Thailand border
  • Bavet (Svay Rieng) – Vietnam border
  • Tropaeng Kreal Border Post (Stung Treng) – Laos Border

Note: Due to COVID-19 restrictions, eVisas may not be available. In that case, you’ll need to get your visa from an embassy.

Applying for a Visa on Arrival

Visa on arrival is available at airports and certain border crossings. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Fill out the immigration card you receive on the plane or at the airport.
  2. Stand in line at the visa on arrival application counter.
  3. Present your passport, immigration card, passport-sized photos, and cash for the visa fee (US$30 for tourist visas, US$35 for business visas). Payments must be made in US dollars.
  4. Wait while the immigration officers process your application, then they’ll stamp your visa in your passport.

Entry Points for Visa on Arrival:

  • Phnom Penh International Airport
  • Siem Reap International Airport
  • Various border crossings with Vietnam, Thailand, and Laos (see full list in the original content)

Note: Due to COVID-19, visa-on-arrival may be unavailable at certain entry points.

Applying for a Cambodia Visa at an Embassy

For a more traditional route, you can visit a Cambodian embassy or consulate to get your visa. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Find the nearest Cambodian embassy or consulate.
  2. Contact them or check their website to understand their specific visa application process.
  3. Collect the required documents, which typically include a valid passport, passport photos, and cash for the visa fee.
  4. Apply in person or by mail, depending on the embassy’s requirements.

Visa Requirements and Extensions

  • Required Documents: You need a valid passport with at least six months of validity and one blank visa page, a return-trip ticket, and cash for the visa fee.
  • Extension Options: Tourist visas can be extended once for another 30 days. Ordinary visas can be extended for 1, 3, 6, or 12 months, depending on your purpose for staying in Cambodia.
  • Travel Insurance: While not mandatory for obtaining a visa, travel insurance is highly recommended for your safety and peace of mind during your stay in Cambodia.

Final Tips for Cambodia Visa

  • Always check for the latest travel and visa restrictions, especially due to COVID-19, as rules can change.
  • Plan ahead and have all your documents ready to avoid any complications at the entry point.
  • Consider getting travel insurance for added protection during your trip.
